Using Your Remote
Your remote works by sending keystrokes to media player program windows,
simulating the keyboard "shortcuts" that you might otherwise
use to control programs. Because of this, you should keep in mind that
not every program will have a shortcut key that does what you want to
do with your remote control. Some of the buttons on your remote just don't
make sense for certain applications, so don't be surprised if some of
your remote's buttons don't do anything in some applications.
IMPORTANT:
Your remote always tries to control the foreground window. When you type
with your keyboard, those keystrokes are routed to the window that you've
selected with your mouse. Your remote works the same wayit sends
button presses to the window that's in the "foreground". If
the foreground window isn't recognized by your remote, the remote will
try to find another window that does recognize remote control button-presses
(see Settings: Advanced), but the best rule
of thumb is to make sure that the window you want to control is on top
of all windows and the window is selected.
Volume Control
IMPORTANT: The Volume and Mute buttons work the same way no matter
what application you are controlling. When you use the Vol+ or Vol- buttons
to control the volume of your PC audio, remember that this controls the
Master Volume on your PC. Frequently, each media player program has its
own individual volume setting. Make sure to set your application's volume
to a reasonable level using your mouse, then you can simply use your PC
Remote to control the volume at all times.
Tips
- If you are using
a program that does not make use of the Exit button, then pressing Exit
will close the currently active application.
- In most media programs,
you can also use the Left/Right Navigation buttons to go to the previous
track/next track.
Application
Guide
Choose an
application from the list below to view the remote's
functionality for that particular application. A button key for the
remote is also available.
